Rio Rancho Inn and Solar Street Rock in 2010!

The New Years celebration held at the Inn at Rio Rancho exceeded all expectations. The restaurant was full most of the night. The Inn had Smokie entertain the dining patrons from five to 8pm with the soulful sounds of his smooth guitar. The food was excellent

The ballroom opened at 8:30pm and it quickly became apparent that there wasn’t enough seating space. “We had planned for around one hundred people” stated Kelly Garrigan of the hotel staff “we had 2/3 of the ballroom open with seating for 160 people, but by 9:15 we were overflowing and had to open up the entire ballroom to over 240”!

The entertainment was provided by the ever popular Solar Street Band, who absolutely lit the place up with their vast mix of music from 1946 to the present. Lead singer Tony Martin was literally all over the ballroom entertaining people. The dance floor was full all night, and the band kept their volume to a normal level. Tony and his band mates (Don and Fred on guitar, Drummer D on the drums and Smokie on bass) really knew how to please the crowd. They even played requests from the crowd.

A great celebration and a great way for Rio Rancho to welcome in the New Year!

Smokie has been a professional musician for over forty years and has performed in many states in addition to Canada, Japan and for the USO. Smokie can provide background instrumental guitar music, both solo and with his computer rhythm section for your listening and dancing pleasure.

If you are having a dinner party, social gathering, small corporate get together, birthday party, wedding or some similar event you should consider Smokie for your background entertainment. The presentation very professional, and the music light and entertaining.

Not your typical lounge act, Smokie & Tony are an engaging duo who will encourage audience participation while playing and singing instrumentals and vocal arrangements from 50's to the present. Smokie (on guitar and

vocals) and Tony (vocals) will joke with each other and engage the crowd in lively conversation, while providing top quality musical entertainment.

Smokie & Tony are available for virtually any type of event, large or small.

The Solar Street Band, is a Rock and Roll cover band featuring song hits from the 50's, 60's and

70's. Originating in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, the band has been together since 1995. Solar Street brings back the music from a simpler, cleaner era. The band has a professional period correct appearance. Solar Street plays various clubs, casinos, wine festivals and special events. Tony Martin, the band’s lead singer and front man, Don “Drummer D” Lister, provides the driving beat, while John Landon Jr. the "Lord of Low Frequencies" is the band leader and bassman. Fred "Gismo" Gismondi, plays rhythm and lead guitar and is the “Master of the Strat-O-Caster”. Don McClelland plays lead and rhythm guitar and “Smokie” plays bass, keyboards, and rhythm and lead guitar.
